God and Man

Today marks that great turning point in the drama of our salvation: when the Almighty One, the Sovereign, the Great and Glorious God makes his appearance among us as a small baby, in the quiet of a back stable, where no one would have ever thought to look.

It is, by many orders of magnitude, the most important thing that has ever happened in the history of the human race.

So here’s hoping you get some time to greet him today – our newborn King. “You would have suffered eternal death,” Saint Augustine says, “had he not been born in time. You would have been lost, if he had not hastened to your aid … What greater grace could God have made to dawn on us than to make his only Son become the son of man, so that a son of man might in his turn become the son of God?”

There’s light and joy enough there for all of us. May the Lord be with you and all those you love today, and from all of us at Prime Matters, merry, merry Christmas.
